Losar 2018The Losar, Tibetan New Earth-Dog Year 2145, was held on 16 Feb. 2018. The traditional Losar Ceremony was celebrated early in the morning at the main Temple with prayers and offering of Scarf to His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s portrait, followed by serving of Tea, Sweet Rice and Cookies.

Guthor 2018dGuthor, the traditional ritual ceremony held on 29th day of the last Tibetan Lunar month, for eliminating all ills and adversities of the past year to usher the coming new year, was conducted on 14 Feb. 2018.

It is characterized by performing specific puja and ritual ceremonies for three consecutive days 27th – 29th of the 12th Tibetan calendar month. A specially constructed flour & butter sculpture – dGu-thor Torma is ultimately incinerated on conclusion of the rituals on the 29th Day of the year’s concluding month, marking the destruction of all ills and adversities for the coming new year.

Phurjel 2018The Tamdin Phurjel - The sacred Ritual Dagger ceremony, one of the major annual religious event held on every 27th day of the 12th Tibetan Calendar month, was held on 12th February 2018. It is retrieved from its ritualized shrine only once in a year during this day to offer blessings for the wellbeing of all sentient beings and the nature.
The Tamdin Ritual Dagger is one of the most important relics of Sera Jey Monastery.

Thousands of lay devotees visited the monastery to receive the blessings of the Tamdin Ritual Dagger.

Sangchos Monlam Jan 2018The annual great prayer ceremony - Sangchos Monlam, of Sera Jey Monastery is scheduled from 28th Jan. 2018 to 1st Feb. 2018.
The great prayer ceremony is the first of the seven week's dedication prayer of the monastery's main curriculum text's author - Jetsun Choekyi Gyaltsen's parinirvana. The ceremony is observed at the main temple by the entire sangha community of Sera Jey with great reverence beginning early before dawn as early as 2.30 am in the morning.

Winter Coaching Jan2018The annual Winter Coaching classes for Tibetan children from the settlement during school wintrer vacation has been successfuly completed, from 3rd - 29th January 2018.

The coaching classes are conducted during every Summer and Winter school vacations as part of monastery's social and educational services to the society. During this winter coaching around 80 children of different grades from various schools have participated. On the final day - 29th January, 2018, the monastery's abbot presented a some words of advice and Participation Certificates were awarded to all the students with a small farewell party.
