The Summer Camp annually organized by Sera Jey Monastery for school children of the two Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe during the school’s summer vacation, has commenced from 16 May 2026 at Sera Jey Tashi Choeling Centre. This is the 17th Summer Camp, and is scheduled for 21 days, between 9 am – 12 pm. Children will be given Introduction on Buddhism, Tibetan language reading and writing skills. Fifty two children have enrolled and are participating in this summer camp.

The 3rd Summer Camp for Monpa Students from Arunchal Pradesh successfully concluded on 13th May 2026 with a formal Closing Ceremony. Sera Jey Monastery’s Abbot, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsethar was the Chief Guest, attended by the Chief Disciplinarian, Chant Master, Administrator, Director of SJ Modern Education Department, Council Committee & teachers of the Summer Camp.
The students displayed some of the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the summer camp. Certificate of Participation were awarded to all the 50 students and Appreciation Certificates to all the teachers / instructors of the 3rd summer camp.

A group of twelve students with two faculty members from Simpson College, Iowa, USA made an educational tour visit to Sera Jey Monastic Institute between 6 – 12 May 2026. Sera Jey Modern Education Department organized Introductory to Buddhism, Meditation and Tibetan Language at Sera Jey Tashi Choeling Centre. The group were also apprised of the monastery’s study curriculum and the Tibetan refugee settlement life. Tour visits to the monastery’s Debate sessions, Science Centre, Sera Je Secondary School and Karuna Home for the Disabled were also organized.

The 2nd, 4th & 6th Semester Examination of academic year 2025 – 26, for BA Hons. specialized program under University of Mysore, in Ancient Buddhist Philosophy, Ancient Psychology & Ancient Tibetan Language, has commenced from 5th May 2026 at Sera Jey Monastic Institute. The exam will run up to 15th May 2026. The Chief Disciplinarian of Sera Jey Monastic Institute paid a visit during the examination held on 6th May 2026.
