4th Intl Summer School activity 2025In the first ten days at the ongoing 4th Summer International School School 2025 at Sera Jey Tashi Choeling Centre, young children learn Tibetan language, Buddhist values, culture & music. On Lhakar Wednesday, 16 June 2025, the participant children with teachers & staffs made a tour visit to Namdroling Monastery. In celebration of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday, the children, teachers & staff visited the local village school and distributed sweets, fruits, books & clothes to the village school children.

Inaug Summer School 8July2025The fourth Sera Jey International Summer School, was inaugurated on 8 July 2025. The summer school is part of Sera Jey International Online School’s program, intended for the young children from different Tibetan diaspora, to have a practical experience of learning Tibetan language, Buddhism, music and culture with fellow children. The ceremony was inaugurated by Sera Jey Monastery’s Disciplinarian, with Mr. Choephel Thupten, as the Guest of Honour.

The online school provides coaching in Tibetan language, Buddhism & Music, and also English, Chinese language & Mathematics specifically for children of Tibetan diaspora where they have no or limited interaction with Tibetan culture.

Lecture at TU 2July2025On 2nd July 2025, Ven. Thupten Kalden, faculty member at Sera Jey English Translation department, presented a lecture on “Buddhist Perspective in Positive Psychology” to 1st & 2nd year M.Sc. Psychology students of Department of Studies and Research in Psychology, Tumkur University. He also gave a talk on Buddhist meditation, and answered questions from the students on the lecture. Geshe Jampa Choewang, Director of Sera Jey Modern Education Department also addressed the class gathering.
The event was part of our programs under the MoU between the two institutes.

ETSI Graduation 2025On June 4, 2025 the Graduation Ceremony of the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative’s 6-Year Implementation Program was held at the Drepung Losiling Monastery in the presence of His Eminence Gadan Tri-Rinpoche.

Candidates of Sera Jey Monastic Institute who could not attend the ETSI Graduation Ceremony in person, Sera Jey Science Centre organized a brief ceremony at the Science Auditorium on 12 June 2025. Venerable Geshe Yeshe Phuntsok, Disciplinarian and Geshe Ngawang Nyingje, Administrator and Geshe Jampa Choewang, Director of Modern Education Deptt. honoured the occasion and presented the 6-Year Implementation Program of ETSI-Emory University’s Completion and Participation Certificates to the monastic science graduates. The faculty and staffs and coordinators were also presented with appreciation certificates and traditional scarves (Khatak).

The accomplishments and the event honours our gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's kindness, and His 90th Birthday - Ghoton- Year of Compassion. The ceremony successfully concluded with the appreciations to ETSI community and the faculty, staffs of Sera Jey Science Centre, of the past & present, and heartfelt Congratulations to the science graduates.
