The special Winter Coaching Classes for Tibetan school children during the winter vacation has commenced. It is scheduled from 9th - 28th January 2019 and organized by Sera Jey Monastery's Modern Education Department. The program is part of Sera Jey Monastery's social and education services project.

The Annual Written Examination for the academic year 2018-19 is scheduled on 11th & 12th January, 2019. It is the last of the four annual examinations conducted in each academic year.

Churgu Choepa, the Mahaparinirvana of Jetsun Choekyi Gyaltsen, the renowned scholar whose Buddhist commentaries, forms Sera Jey Monastery's philosophical studies curriculum, dedication prayers were held at Sera Jey Monastery as well as at Maha Bodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, on 26th of December 2018.

Sera Jey Monastery conducted the second of the two rounds of the 29th Jang Gunchoe Tsen-phued Dhamcha, a nightlong debate ceremony, on the 14th of December 2018. The grand ceremony was attended by HE Gaden Tri Rinpoche, abbot of Sera Jey Monastery, abbots & former abbots of Sera Mey and other Gelug monastic institutes, Disciplinairans and Chant Master of Sera Jey and Sera Mey Monastery, tulkus and geshes of Sera Jey, Sera Mey and teachers & pupils monks.

During this special ceremony, Sera Jey Monastery awarded the 'Award of Excellence' to Lharam Geshe Thabkye for his meritorious achievement in securing the First Position and Highest Marks in all the six annual Gelug Examinations. The award was presented by HE Gaden Tri Rinpoche and Abbot of Sera Jey Monastery.

Sera Jey Monastery's new Disciplinarian instatement ceremony was held on 1st December 2018, on Gaden Ngamchos (Lama Tsong Khapa Day) 25th day of the 10th month in Tibetan Lunar Calendar.

Geshe Tsewang Topden has been instated the new Disciplinarian, succeding Geshe Chime Tsering who completed his one year tenure.
