Objective:As we witness in our exiled Tibetan community in India, many elders under different circumstances had to live a lonely life without any social and financial support. Hence, this project aims to provide a proper home for elders – those old, weak and helpless, where they can spend their last part of their life in peace and comfort. Following our monastery’s introduction of various modern educational disciplines, as Science, Language & Translation (English and Chinese), and IGNOU Special Study Centre, NIOS (Secondary) Study Centre and the three Specialized BA Honours programs, accommodation for the appointed lay resident teachers and staffs has been the major problem and inconvenience. Lack of proper and adequate residential quarters has been the main drawback in recruiting qualified teachers & employees, and in maintaining long term service of existing ones. This shortfall is a major impediment to recruiting and maintaining qualified & experienced faculties, and considerably affects the overall development of our modern education programs. General Science was first introduced to Tibetan monasteries based in India, Nepal & Bhutan in 2001, through the Science meets Dharma" (SmD) Project by Rikon Tibet Institute, under the patronage of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, who has consistently advocated the relevance and importance of Science knowledge alongside Buddhist philosophical studies. In the project’s second phase, Science was formally introduced in the monastery’s curriculum in 2012. Objective: Class Room project is one of the important projects proposed for undertaking on monastery's commitment to developing further its education curriculum. This project is primarily intended to provide a classroom facility to the existing Debate Court Yard, which is inadequate to hold all the 19 class levels of the curriculum - Five Course Stages. Many of the 19 class levels have to hold their Debate classes outdoors, because of the large student population, totaling 2455. And outdoor classes are frequently interrupted during rainy season and summer heat. Past Projects Prayer Assembly Hall One of the most significant project was the construction of the New Assembly Prayer Hall, given the time and circumstance of the project that was proposed and implemented. The project commeced from the year 1995 and efficiently completed by 1998. The monastery's monks undertook yearlong Dharma Tours to America and Europe for raising funds for the Project.
